I'm sure Russia and other countries have scientists independent of the US that can tell the "free" media if shooting down the satellite is really necessary. It does make you wonder if it's just a test to see if the US can put the lights out on another country.

Australia just like the UK, and US are weak willed on Whaling because of trade relations, at the end of the day our governments care more about the bottom line than protecting our planets future. These defenders of those who can't defend themselves have highlighted that the Australian Government is Weak on the issue of protecting our environment. At least they have taken their place in history trying to do whats right. Even an acts of desperation can have merit.
